As the song goes, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. Not only is it the time of year for holiday cheer as we celebrate the birth of the Savior, it’s also the time of year for my very own birthday. Being born in December is extra special. I love this time of year, and I love celebrating my birthday in ways big and small. It’s become a thing for me to celebrate with my favorites and to kick off my birthday month, I’m sharing a few of my favorite things from Black owned business and beauty brands.
What’s a birthday celebration without a little something to sip on? Anyone who really knows me knows Baileys Irish Crème used to be my go-to drink. I was recently introduced to a similar beverage that offers a twist to my old favorite. It’s by Black owned brand Wondry Wines and comes in flavors sweet hazelnut cream, strawberries & cream, vanilla caramel cream, and creamy chocolate martini. I am a berry kind of girl and love the strawberries & cream variety. It pairs well on ice and when blended with ice cream it really is right on time. The perfect birthday treat!
There is not much to say about this one right here. Black woman owned brand The Lip Bar’s matte lip color in Bawse Lady has been a go to red for me for years now. It’s an easy favorite of mine and garners compliments left and right. According to their website, it is the brand’s bestselling red and I can see why. It looks good on everyone and makes birthday beauty effortless for me.
I love to not only look good, but to smell good to. Whether in my birthday girl era, or going about life day to day, I am almost always wearing a fragrance. I recently tried Black woman owned fragrance brand Moodeaux’s fragrance Brand New and I love it! The brand is built around catering to your mood (hence the name Moodeaux) and this scent has notes of peroli petals and peony hence why I take to it because as you know I love florals. Its top notes are pink pepper and cardamom so it’s overall something different for me but is a welcomed addition to my fragrance repertoire. As a plus, the brand allows you to purchase in sample sizes to try their fragrances out before fully committing. Brand New is the perfect complement to this season of celebration of a brand new year.
As an honorable mention, one of my newest party ready favorites is my very own chip bag cover design from my Sophisticated Ladies chip bag collection. The chip bag covers we used for my son’s birthday parties inspired me to create a line of elevated chip bag designs each inspired by a sophisticated lady; real or imagined that I admire. The intent here is to provide a chip bag offering for alluring events like high teas, brunches, wedding and bridal showers, and yes even birthdays. I love the design of the bag inspired by me. It is the perfect addition to a party in my honor.
